Prescott Tolk

Founder

Prescott Tolk is an accomplished writer, master tutor and essayist with over 20 years of experience in the field of college admissions. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s renowned Medill School of Journalism and covered Jersey City politics and community affairs for The Hudson Reporter. In 2003, Prescott moved back to Chicago, where he pursued stand-up comedy while simultaneously building a career in standardized test preparation at Academic Approach, a boutique tutoring firm in Lincoln Park. He eventually became a director at the firm.

In 2011, he moved to Los Angeles and started his own private practice. In addition to preparing students for the SAT and ACT, he works with students preparing for middle school entrance Exams (ISEE, SSAT, HSPT) and graduate school entrance exams (GRE and GMAT). Drawing from his journalism background and ability to connect with students of all ages, Prescott has helped hundreds of students craft their personal statements and supplemental essays. He takes great pride in developing distinctive essays that elevate a student’s profile and resonate with college admissions officers.
